The process, step by step
This is the same path every rating on this site has gone through, from the last day of your trip to the badge shown on the package page.
-
1
Your Africa trip ends
Once your itinerary is complete, your booking is marked finished in our system — this is what triggers the next step, so no one is asked to rate a trip they haven't taken.
-
2
We send a private form to your email
Within a few days of your trip ending, you'll receive a link to a private feedback form, tied to your specific booking and package. It isn't posted publicly and no one else can submit on your behalf unless you traveled together and choose to submit as a group.
-
3
You rate and, if you choose, write a comment
You rate your specific package on a 1 to 5-star scale and can add a written comment. Submitting a written comment is optional — a star rating alone still counts toward the package average.
-
4
You choose whether it's published
Your rating only appears on the site if you agree to have it shared publicly when you submit the form. If you don't opt in, it's still recorded internally to help us improve, but it won't be displayed.
-
5
We check it against our guidelines
Every published submission is checked against the guidelines below before it goes live — this catches spam, duplicate submissions, and anything that isn't a genuine account of the trip.
-
6
It's tagged to that exact package
Your rating is attached to the specific package you booked, so it rolls into that package's own average rather than a single company-wide number — that's what you see on each tour page and in the badges on the homepage.
Our rating guidelines
By submitting a rating, you're agreeing to the following. We reserve the right to remove anything that doesn't meet these guidelines, regardless of whether the rating is positive or negative.
- Only travelers who completed the trip can rate it. Forms are sent to the email on the booking and tied to that specific reservation.
- One submission per booking. If you traveled as a group under one booking, one of you may submit on behalf of the group.
- Honest opinions of any kind are welcome — including critical ones — as long as they reflect your own experience of the trip you took.
- Spam, repeated, or copy-pasted submissions are removed, along with anything that doesn't represent a genuine firsthand experience.
- Comments should stay appropriate for a general audience. Strong opinions are fine; abusive language, discriminatory remarks, or content unrelated to the trip is not.
- We don't edit what you write. A comment is either published as submitted or not published at all.
A note on negative ratings
We publish critical ratings the same way we publish positive ones — a low score isn't a reason to hold a rating back. If something went wrong on your trip, we'd genuinely rather hear about it through the form (or directly at sales@africanaturaltours.com) than not hear about it at all.
Common questions
Can anyone submit a rating, even if they didn't book with you?
No. The feedback form is only ever sent to the email address on a completed booking, and it's specific to that booking and package.
Do you filter out negative ratings?
No. Ratings are checked against the guidelines above (genuine experience, no spam, appropriate language), not against whether the score is high or low.
Why don't I see a rating on every package?
We only display a package's average once it has enough submissions to be a fair representation — newer or lower-volume packages may not show a rating yet even if a few forms have come in.
Is this the same as your Google or TripAdvisor reviews?
No — those are separate, open review platforms anyone can post to. The ratings described on this page are our own first-party data, collected privately and tied directly to a completed booking.
Can I change or remove my rating after submitting?
Yes — email sales@africanaturaltours.com with your booking reference and we'll update or remove it.
