Machame route is the most recommended route and here is why
The Machame route is highly recommended for scenic value and has a medium to high achive rate, especially if you choose the 7 days itinerary. The 6-day options are not recommended for first-time trekkers. It is a best Kilimanjaro route for acclimatization as it has a climb high, sleep low opportunity for trekkers on day three. Here trekkers climb from Shira Camp 2 to Lava Tower at 4,600 meters, where they have lunch and then hike back down to Barranco Camp (3,900 meters) to sleep.
Like all Kilimanjaro routes, the Machame is a challenging trek with stunning scenery through four diverse climatic zones. There is a best opportunity to split pre-summit day climb by adding an extra rest day at Karanga Camp to leave hikers well rested before summiting. The route has however got very popular over the past few years which means it can get busy, especially at Barranco where climbers join up with trekkers from the Lemosho, Shira and Umbwe routes the Machame route only offers fully catered camping
1. Rongai route
Faster ascent the Rongai Route is for those who have incomplete time / would like to test their physical and mental ability. As it ascends faster than additional routes, Rongai requires a high level of fitness and an ability to adapt emeditly This route will see you climb Kilimanjaro from the northeast across bleak rocky landscapes be happy with stunning views across the Kenya plains. You then go down the southern slopes to end at Marangu.
2. Shira route
The Shira Route strategies from the verdant western side of the mountain, and allow additional time for adaption. This route is much related to the fashionable Lemosho route, but avoids the a lot great majority campsites and selection. as well that, we usually reach your destination at camp in the early afternoon giving us additional time for adaption walks above camp before returning down for dinner and a during the night stay. by the way, we take a much gradual ascent than Rongai and trekkers on the Shira Route in general have a higher success rate of getting the summit. This is the best route for those who have a small other time and want to give themselves the best possibility of getting Uhuru Peak.
3. Lemosho route
The Lemosho Route follows a related selection to the Shira Route and is any more choice for those who want a more time to get to the summit. It is an additional just right route for adaption as we start a small lower at Lemosho Gate and have our first night at Big Tree camp.
4. Northern Circuit
The distant Northern Circuit is the latest route on Kilimanjaro, and is fashionable with journey enthusiasts who want to keep away from the large majority and knowledge the distant wilderness. The Northern Circuit almost fully circumnavigates Kilimanjaro donation plenty time for adaption and make as one the best vistas of Rongai and Shira. If you are looking for the most complete Kilimanjaro knowledge with no the great majority, the Northern Circuit is your best back.
5. Marangu route
It is called Tourist Route for 2 factors. One factor is simply its status: it makes this ascent route a number of touristy. Marangu route is also the only ascent route that uses the same way up and down, which contributes to it being the largest majority ascent route on Kilimanjaro. Marangu route is a at ease to move away with a very stable slow slope this gave the Marangu route a position as an easy ascent route. And that is the other reason for the name Tourist Route because it is made-up to be simple the Marangu route is used by many shamefully not ready tourists to a certain extent than trekkers.
The name Coca Cola Route stems from the sleeping huts along the route. They put up for sale the possessions. The Marangu route is the only Kilimanjaro hiking route that offers hut somewhere to live. Although make no error the Marangu route is not simple and it is not for tourists It is a grave ascend with very low succes rates. Only accommodation to a third of the climbers on this route arrive at the summit of Kilimanjaro the after everything else day before the summit try is a long one and covers 1000 m of altitude dissimilarity. There is not enough time to get well / get used to before setting out again at midnight to ascend another 1200 m.
Adjoin to that the be deficient in of picturesque variety compared to the other routes, and you be in awe because anyone would want to climb Kilimanjaro on the Marangu route. Fighting fit, even if not as picturesque as additional routes, it is at a standstill a stunning knowledge with huge views all alongside.
There are 2 factors why you may want to climb Kilimanajaro on the Marangu route:
1. You completely under no situation see in your mind's eye sleeping in a tent for 5 nights / moreBut do not think those huts offer lavishness somewhere to live / that there are any facilities. There are not you catch a mattress and cushion no linen on a nonsense bed, and you get to eat in a majority dining hall. No less and no more.
2. The additional factor to select Marangu is if money is your main contemplation, earlier than the whole thing else. I do not be concerned about landscape, are not concerned by big majority and are agreeable to agree to an abridged place of succesful, Marangu is the easy option you have. But do yourself a favour and take that possible additional adaption day.
The Umbwe route isn’t a methodological route, but its a very straight, very steep, very hard, and in parts very covered route. Umbwe route joins the Machame route close up the Barranco Camp on the 2 nights. On the additional routes Barranco Camp is reached on the 3 or 4 nights.
arts of the strategies on the first day are so steep; they can only be negotiated because the tree roots provide something like steps. The tree roots also provide as grip bars to haul you up where needed. This is the hardest and challenging of all Kilimanjaro ascend routes. Do not even imagine about it if not you have knowledge of ascend mountains.
