Your Uganda Natural Tours guide will transfer you to Entebbe Pier, where you will board either a speed boat (45 minutes) or a traditional boat with an engine (1 hour 30 minutes), depending on the weather and your preference.
Upon arrival at Ngamba Island, you will receive an orientation talk at the Interpretation Center. Afterward, proceed to the viewing platform to observe the chimpanzees during their supplementary feeding, facilitated by animal keepers. The chimps emerge from the forest at designated feeding times, approaching the fence for fruits and vegetables. If the caregivers are delayed, you may hear the chimps making noises as a reminder. After feeding, explore the island’s visitor area, enjoy the facilities, or return to Entebbe.
Enjoy close-up photography of the chimps during feeding (pack your camera in a waterproof bag due to potential water contact). If interested in birdwatching, bring binoculars for possible bird sightings. At lunchtime, stop at a scenic picnic site for an amazing meal, followed by a game drive.
The tour can be a full day or half day, with overnight trips available upon request. You can also opt for a week-long caregiver volunteer or research program. Depart Ngamba Island and head back to Kampala or Entebbe.
Arrive in Kampala and transfer to your hotel or residence.
Note: Ensure your camera is protected in a waterproof bag, as water contact is likely. Birdwatchers should consider bringing binoculars for potential bird sightings.
