Day 1: Kilimanjaro Machame Gate - Kilimanjaro Machame Camp

  • Rising: 56,000ft / 1,830m to 10,200ft / 3,100m

The drive from Moshi to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate takes about 50 minutes. Along the journey drive to Machame gate hiker(s) will pass through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Hiker(s) will now leave the park gate and walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Lower down the trail can be muddy and slippery. Day 6: Barafu Camp to Kilimanjaro summit, down to Mweka Camp

  • Stretch: 5km Barafu to Uhuru Peak Ascent

Hikers wake up before midnight in the cover of darkness. Hikers will begin a steep climb over loose volcanic scree has some well-graded zig-zags and a slow but steady pace will take us to rim of the main crater, Stella Point, at 5,735m. Hikers will rest there for few minutes to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi.
