Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

After breakfast, leave Mandara Hut and continue toward Horombo Hut. The trail gradually moves out of the forest into the open moorland zone, where the vegetation becomes shorter and the landscape more expansive. Trek at a controlled pace with your private guide, allowing time for hydration, rest and acclimatization. Depending on weather conditions, you may enjoy views toward Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding mountain landscape. Arrive at Horombo Hut, enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Horombo Hut Acclimatization Day

Today is dedicated to acclimatization at Horombo Hut. After breakfast, take a guided acclimatization walk around the surrounding high-altitude landscape. The activity gives you additional time at elevation while enjoying views of the surrounding mountain environment. Walk at a comfortable pace with your private guide, taking regular breaks before returning to Horombo Hut. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, hydrating and preparing your clothing and personal equipment for the higher-altitude sections ahead. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

After breakfast, continue your trek from Horombo Hut toward Kibo Hut. The trail crosses the high-altitude landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo, with vegetation becoming increasingly sparse as you gain elevation. Continue through the open alpine environment at a steady pace, taking regular breaks along the way. As you approach Kibo Hut, the terrain becomes more rocky and exposed. Upon arrival, settle into the hut and have your evening meal. Your guide will brief you about the summit attempt and help you prepare your clothing, water and essential equipment. Rest early because the summit climb begins during the night.

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Wake around midnight and begin the summit attempt with your private mountain guide. Trek slowly through the rocky upper slopes of Kibo toward the crater rim. Continue at a controlled pace as you approach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point in Africa.

After reaching Uhuru Peak, take time to celebrate your achievement and capture photographs, subject to weather and trail conditions. Begin the descent toward Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut. As you lose altitude, the mountain environment gradually becomes more comfortable. Arrive at Horombo Hut, enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Horombo Hut toward Marangu Gate. The trail gradually passes through changing vegetation as you descend from the moorland toward the montane forest. Enjoy the final mountain scenery while completing the last section of your trek.

Continue to Marangu Gate, where you complete the required park exit procedures. Meet your private transfer vehicle and continue to Moshi. Arrive later in the day, marking the end of your 6-Day Private Mid-Range Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour in Tanzania, Africa in August via the Marangu Route.
