On clear days, trekkers may enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The hike takes approximately 5–7 hours before reaching Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight rest.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Today’s trek leads from Horombo Hut toward Kibo Hut, passing through the alpine desert zone. The vegetation becomes increasingly sparse as the trail crosses the Saddle, the wide area between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. This is an important acclimatization day as the altitude increases significantly. After approximately 5–7 hours of hiking, you arrive at Kibo Hut, where you have dinner and rest in preparation for the summit attempt.

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
The summit day begins very early, usually around midnight, with the climb from Kibo Hut toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro. After reaching Uhuru Peak and enjoying the incredible views, you descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
